Suchika Tariyal’s Asian Games bronze gave India its first mixed martial arts medal at the continental competition on September 21, 2026. The 36-year-old finished with bronze in the women’s traditional 60kg event after a semifinal against Singapore’s Hui Hoon Teo.
Suchika Tariyal Asian Games bronze
The Indian Express and The Times of India reported that the semifinal result was challenged by the Indian camp and the contest was subsequently declared a draw. Teo advanced to the final, leaving Tariyal with bronze.
Tariyal said she believed her performance deserved a different outcome. Her disagreement concerns the semifinal decision; it does not change the reported bronze-medal result.
A first medal in a new event

Reports contain inconsistent wording about the weight-based tiebreak procedure. This article therefore records the corroborated medal and semifinal outcome without presenting the disputed rule description as settled fact.
