The 83rd Venice International Film Festival has begun a programme of public masterclasses at the Match Point Arena on the Venice Lido, running from September 3 to 9, 2026.
Who is taking part
La Biennale di Venezia announced sessions involving the festival’s lifetime-achievement honourees George Clooney and Ellen Burstyn, as well as filmmakers and collaborators including Chloé Zhao with cinematographer Łukasz Żal, Luc Besson and Luca Guadagnino.
The programme is designed to give festival audiences direct access to conversations about acting, directing, cinematography and career development. Individual session times and entry arrangements should be checked on the official festival website.
More than premieres and awards
Major film festivals are best known for red carpets, premieres and competition prizes. Masterclasses add an educational component by allowing established practitioners to explain decisions that are normally hidden behind the finished film.
