India won silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event at the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, September 21, after Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane combined for 1,890.1 points.
The result gave India its third medal of the Games, with all three coming from shooting. China won gold with a world-record team score of 1,899.0, while South Korea took bronze with 1,884.2. The scores and result were reported independently by The Times of India and Jansatta.
India men’s air rifle team secures silver
The men’s 10m air rifle team standings were calculated from the shooters’ qualification scores. Rudrankksh led the Indian trio with 631.8 points and placed third in the individual qualification standings.
Himanshu recorded 630.0 to finish seventh, while Parth scored 628.3 and placed 10th. Their combined 1,890.1 was enough for second place, 5.9 points ahead of South Korea but 8.9 behind China.
China’s Sheng Lihao, Ma Sihan and Zhang Changhong combined for 1,899.0, setting a qualification world record as they claimed gold. South Korea completed the podium on 1,884.2.
Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon reach final
The qualification event also determined who advanced to the individual men’s 10m air rifle final. Rudrankksh and Himanshu progressed after finishing third and seventh respectively.
Parth missed the individual final despite contributing 628.3 points to India’s silver-medal total. His score remained essential to the team result, where every shooter’s qualification tally counted toward the combined ranking.
The two finalists gave India another opportunity to add to its shooting medal haul later in the competition. The team silver also continued a strong opening sequence for India’s rifle shooters.
India’s third shooting medal at Asian Games 2026
India’s first two medals came in the women’s 10m air rifle events on September 20. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won team silver before Elavenil added an individual silver.
The men’s result therefore took India’s early tally to three silvers, all from the shooting range. It also underlined India’s depth across the men’s and women’s rifle squads, with both teams reaching the podium in the same event category.
India entered the 2026 Games after collecting a record 22 shooting medals at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou. That earlier haul included seven golds, nine silvers and six bronze medals. The opening results in Japan do not guarantee a similar total, but three medals across the first two days provide a productive start.
For Rudrankksh and Himanshu, attention now shifts from the shared team result to the individual final. Their qualification positions establish that both are competitive, although the medal round starts as a separate contest.
