Women’s Asia Cup 2026: India Beat Sri Lanka in Final

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 ended with India defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in Dubai on September 13. India made 183 for five after choosing to bat, then dismissed Sri Lanka for 111 from the final ball of the 20th over.

The completed result was reported by The Indian Express and Associated Press. It gives India a record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.

Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final built on a 129-run stand

Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set up India’s total with a partnership of 129 runs in 12.5 overs. Shafali scored 68 and Mandhana made 59.

The Indian Express reported that Shafali reached fifty in 24 balls, the fastest half-century in the Women’s Asia Cup. It also recorded Mandhana’s fifty as her 36th in T20 internationals.

Sri Lanka regained some control after breaking the opening partnership. India scored 43 runs from the final five overs, finishing at 183 for five rather than pushing the total beyond 200.

Shree Charani leads India’s defence

Left-arm spinner Shree Charani took four wickets for 20 runs in four overs. AP and The Indian Express both identify her spell as central to India’s defence.

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored for her team with 36, while Vishmi Gunaratne made 20. AP reported that Sri Lanka fell from 62 for one to 111 all out.

The chase therefore ended with India 72 runs ahead. The score is a completed match result, not an early estimate or a live-match projection.

India regain the continental title

Sri Lanka entered the final as defending champion after winning the 2024 tournament. India’s victory restores the title to the most successful team in the competition’s history.

The presentation ceremony also drew attention after India did not accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi. AP reported that the ceremony was delayed and the Indian team conducted its own medal presentation. That episode is separate from the match result.

On the field, the verified outcome rests on the opening partnership, India’s 183 for five and a bowling performance that held Sri Lanka to 111. Those figures establish India’s 72-run victory and eighth title.
