Mirzapur: The Movie Opens Above ₹20 Crore in Early India Box-Office Tracking

Mirzapur: The Movie crossed ₹20 crore in early India box-office tracking on its opening day, September 4, 2026, extending the crime franchise from streaming television to cinemas.

The Indian Express, citing industry tracker Sacnilk, reported an estimated gross of ₹20.39 crore and net collections of ₹17.28 crore across 8,390 shows by 7pm. These are preliminary tracking figures rather than final audited producer totals.

Mirzapur movie collection starts strongly

The Hindi version accounted for almost all of the reported business, with a smaller contribution from the Telugu release. Because the figures were recorded before the end of the day, later estimates may include additional evening shows and corrections.

Box-office reporting in India often combines theatre tracking, distributor information and estimates. Gross, net and worldwide totals are different measures, so they should not be compared as if they are interchangeable.

From streaming series to theatrical film

The film is based on the Prime Video crime drama Mirzapur. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu return as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi, alongside a large ensemble cast.

Gurmmeet Singh directed the film from a screenplay by Puneet Krishna. Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment presented the theatrical adaptation, which opened in Hindi and Telugu.

Why the release is being watched

Moving a streaming franchise to cinemas tests whether a large digital audience will buy theatre tickets for an expanded story. Familiar characters can create strong initial awareness, but theatrical performance also depends on reviews, word of mouth, screen allocation and competition.

The early total indicates substantial opening interest. It does not establish the film’s profitability because production, marketing, distribution terms and later-week performance also matter.

Search interest rises with opening

Google Trends India listed “mirzapur movie collection” among active searches in the past 24 hours, with more than 20,000 searches and a 100% rise at the time checked. Related queries included the film’s budget and collection.

Search volume can change quickly and should not be treated as ticket-sales data. It does, however, show that audiences were actively looking for opening-day performance information.

What comes next

The first full-day estimate and weekend trend will provide a clearer picture. Saturday growth, occupancy and performance across regions will help show whether interest extends beyond established fans.

Until final figures are released, the accurate description is an early tracked opening above ₹20 crore gross—not a certified final collection.
