Accenture Outlook Lifts Select Indian IT Stocks

Several Indian IT stocks rose on Monday after Accenture issued a stronger-than-expected annual revenue forecast, offering investors some reassurance about enterprise technology spending and the sector’s ability to adapt to artificial intelligence. The initial rally weakened later in the session, leaving a mixed picture rather than a broad-based surge.

Indian IT stocks react to Accenture outlook

Reuters reported that the Nifty IT index climbed about 1.6% early on October 5. Persistent Systems gained as much as 3.1%, while Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services rose about 2.1% and Mphasis added roughly 1.1% during the earlier part of trading.

The Indian Express’s end-of-session account showed that much of the index-level advance faded. Nifty IT ended approximately flat, while TCS and Wipro retained gains of up to 2% and Persistent Systems and Mphasis added up to 3%. Infosys and HCL Technologies closed 1%–3% lower.

That distinction matters: Accenture’s guidance lifted sentiment toward selected companies, but it did not produce a uniform rally across every major IT stock.

Why Accenture is watched in India

Accenture’s quarterly revenue of $18.68 billion exceeded the upper end of its guidance range, according to The Indian Express, which cited Nomura. The company forecast constant-currency revenue growth of 3%–6% for its 2027 financial year, above the 2%–5% range expected by the market.

Indian technology-services companies earn a large portion of their revenue from clients in the United States and Europe. Accenture’s results and commentary are therefore treated as an indicator of enterprise demand, outsourcing budgets and the pace at which signed deals turn into revenue.

Analysts highlighted improving conversion of smaller deals and continuing outsourcing demand as encouraging signals for Indian firms preparing to report quarterly results.

AI opportunity does not remove near-term risks

The industry continues to face a two-sided AI debate. Automation can allow clients to complete some work with fewer labour hours, threatening the traditional effort-based billing model. At the same time, large companies need consultants and technology providers to deploy AI securely across business functions, creating new projects.

Reuters said brokerages increasingly view enterprise-scale AI adoption as a multi-year spending opportunity. However, The Indian Express reported that shorter AI projects have not yet fully offset pressure on traditional services. Global uncertainty and cautious discretionary spending also remain constraints.

The Nifty IT index remained down about a quarter for 2026 even after Monday’s early move. Accenture’s forecast is consequently a positive signal, not evidence that the sector’s wider slowdown has ended.

This story was selected for same-day technology-sector prominence. Google Trends India did not expose a relevant measured search-volume figure in the batch check, so no trend ranking is claimed.
